Anna - Monumento all'Attenzione

L’installazione del monumento è stata preceduta da alcuni laboratori sviluppati insieme alle scuole del territorio: Istituto Comprensivo Martiri di Sant'Anna di Stazzema; ISI Don Lazzeri-Stagi, Pietrasanta; ISI Bersanti e Matteucci, Viareggio.
Ho sentito la necessità di intraprendere un dialogo con la parte più giovane della comunità, quella parte che avrà il compito di portare avanti la memoria nel momento in cui le generazioni che hanno vissuto sulla propria pelle quei fatti non ci saranno più.
Ho chiesto a questi giovani studenti e studentesse di scuole elementari, medie e superiori cosa sono per loro la memoria e il ricordo e che forma hanno.
Cosa significa costruire una memoria collettiva e incontrare l’ Altro, nelle sue molteplici forme, e quanto questa alterità ci appartenga, ci somigli e ci faccia paura.
Cosa significa brutto e quanto questo termine abbia a che fare con un altro termine profondamente legato a questa vicenda: sconosciuto.
Il tutto attraverso laboratori che hanno previsto l’utilizzo di disegno, monotipo e altre tecniche pittoriche in cui ciò che conta non è il risultato finale quanto il processo che conduce ad esso. Un processo pensato come percorso condiviso e da costruire insieme, libero da qualsiasi forma di giudizio.
Esercizi pensati per stimolare una riflessione sulla percezione di sé e del proprio essere parte di una comunità.

The installation of the monument was preceded by some workshops developed together with schools in the area: Istituto Comprensivo Martiri di Sant'Anna di Stazzema; ISI Don Lazzeri-Stagi, Pietrasanta; ISI Bersanti and Matteucci, Viareggio.
I felt the necessity to begin a dialogue with the youngest part of the community, the part that will have the carry on the memory when the generations that have lived through those events will no longer be there.
I asked these young students from elementary, middle and high schools what memory and remembrance are to them and what form they take.
What it means to build a collective memory and meet the Other, in its multiple forms, and how much this otherness belongs to us, resembles us and frightens us.
What does it mean to be ugly and how much this term has to do with another term deeply linked to this event: unknown.
All of this through workshops that have provided for the use of drawing, monotype and other painting techniques in which what matters is not the final result but the process that leads to it. A process conceived as a shared path to built together, free from any form of judgement.
Exercises designed to stimulate a thought about the perception of oneself and one's own being part of a community.
